-"Well, I'll leave the time to you guys then. I'm good to go whenever, so I'll just lounge around here until you're both good to go." Noven had sluggishly said. -As he began to relax, he noticed Halt had kept his eyes on him at all times, making Noven feel uncomfortable and out of place.

-"Much obliged sir," he stated with a big comical bow as he chose a sizable leather bound tome. Blowing the dust from the cover he held it to the light. -"Ah! "Journey to the West"! The quintessential piece of 16th century Chinese literature! If ever there were a guide to long arduous journeys, this is it. I say it will suffice quite nicely." -With a great and visual smile of true reverence lighting up his face, he stormed down the corridor into the sleeping guest chamber, and then slammed the novel onto the floor. As soon as the room's occupant was awake enough to please the fighter, he virtually dragged him by the collar back into the den.

-"Erm, I don't mean to interrupt, but when will we head out? The morning? And what's to be done with The Lone Wander, since I don't hear him chatting us up I assume he's out cold right now." Noven said. He felt awkward interjecting like this, but had the urge to ask.

-Now that everyone was at least semi-conscious and present, *message reduced* took his place by the fireside in true briefing fashion. -"Gentlemen, all of you and yet none of you are aware why we are here this evening. Though I admire your courage, I find myself questioning your judgement in even considering a trek such as this. You are not guaranteed fame. You are not guaranteed riches. You are not guaranteed survival. You will be unaware of where we are going and what we'll be doing there for the vast majority of this adventure, and to be honest, I have no good reason in having it so. This will be difficult, this will be dangerous, and this will most likely not be fair to any of you." -He glanced around the room, thoroughly enjoying the head scratching looks he was receiving. -"However", he commenced," What I can promise is excitement, adventure, and a side of the world you've never seen. You'll see fantastic creatures, other realms, keeps and dungeons. Your imagination WISHES it could keep up with the most mundane things you'll see on this journey. We'll learn untold facts about the world, about life, about each other and maybe, JUST maybe..." -He paused for effect, internally writhing at his own expectation. When the suspense was sufficiently built he added... -"Maybe, you'll learn a little about yourselves." -"Now! Enough of the days to come, we'll jump those ravines when we come to them! Let us go around and go over our supplies, that we may know what is at our disposal during our trials. I myself will leave with nothing by the clothes on my back, but I can see some of you have come more prepared."

-Halt just sat there watching his close companion trying to be mysterious and awesome, but in Halt's eyes, he was just making a fool of himself. 'Excitement, adventure, and a side of the world you've never seen'? Halt just chuckled silently at that. He had seen more than his fair share of shit. -"Well, I guess since I've own this house, I'll go first," said Halt. "As for supplies all I'll bring is the clothes I'm wearing, a water skin, and this journal." As he said the last bit, he reached over to the desk by the chair to pick up the book he had been writing in when all of these events started.

-"Well then, sounds like this is going to be quite the quest." A grin came to Noven's face as he spoke "I'm used to playing the odds, and this sounds perfect. I know I can rely on The Lone Wanderer here and myself, and you two seem to fit the profile of people that'd be good to be with. -Noven slowly stood, using his worn and tired legs for a shaky rise. -"I guess I'll be taking what I've got in this pack, primarily some repair equipment and then an extra set of clothing, as I don't expect to get through anything without it being rags by the end. Well, I'm good then, I suppose."

-He just sat there still thinking, 'Wow, this guy's speeches are almost as awesome as mine!' Then he stood up. -"Well my armor's all busted up, but Noven can fix it." He then pointed to his rifle, "That however is beyond repair, even for him. So I guess until just pack a small handgun if you have one, my Trench Knife, and a few medical supplies."

-Halt listened to the others in turn answer *message reduced*'s question. After the Wanderer asked if he had a gun, Halt remembered that he had found this weird weapon that could only be described as a shotgun rocketlauncher... but he didn't want to give away such a weapon to a complete stranger. -"All I have is some old Chinese pistol," Halt said "I've tried it out and it's not in bad condition."

-He stood there and sighed, "If that's all you have." He said as he took the gun, "Thank you." -He then walked over to Noven, "Hey, can you get in contact with the Olympus?" He whispered, "Because my radio was destroyed when I was attacked, and I want to speak with her for a minute before we go."

-"That's damned unfortunate" Noven whispered back. He grabbed the gun from The Lone Wanderer's hand, now talking loudly "Damn it man, just be grateful for the gun, you're already on me to upgrade it!?" *Sigh* "I don't have the parts I'd need on me right now, let me check through my pack later." Noven handed back the gun, but also the smallest of transponders that would let The Lone Wanderer communicate with Olympus. He did this as discreetly as he could to avoid suspicion of the others.

-He took the transponder, sat down, and began to contact the Olympus. -The transponder they had developed was a technological breakthrough It was a small piece that slipped into the ear, allowed the user to contact people thousands and thousands of miles away, and the user could speak under their breath, and be heard clearly. -"Hello?" He heard a familiar voice answer, "Hey babe, how're you doing?" "I'm fine thanks, are you alright? I tried calling but there was no response, I got worried." "Yea, the thing just died." He said knowing that she would freak out if he told her the truth, "Well I just wanted to see how you were, I have to go now, love you." -He then hung up and sat there, staring at the ground. He had no idea why he took this, or even why Noven agreed to come with him. -"Well I'm ready to go." He said as he stood up.

-"Alright, well that about raps it up. If no one has any other business, than lets get right to the mind blowing, shall we? If you'll follow me, please." -Seeing no objection, the martial artist led his motley crew outside, and placed them in strategic places in the yard. -"Alright, now things are about to get weird, and will probably need some explanation. Even if I the time and the inclination to travel to this place conventionally, I lack the means. Its not a place you can just book a flight to. Luckily for us, I know an alternate route." -"In background, there are some things about physics you might wanna know. Human beings are not actually three dimensional, but in fact vehicles capable of "motion" (for want of a better term) in five dimensions. The dimensions are as follows: 1st being a distance, 2nd being an image, 3rd being an object, 4th being displacement or an action, and 5th being time or an event. As a consciousness, you can move through all five of them and retain a memory, imprinted on your mind. The technique that I'm about to show you replaces time with a 6th dimension, multiversal travel. In doing so, you can move an object through a displacement without any loss of time." -"For those of you who didn't get that, I'm opening a shortcut in the universe, and time isn't gonna pass while we're in it. If theres no further questions, I'll begin." -Having no intention of answering anything, he did a few stretches, then began an incredibly intense form of various motions and technique, each made with utmost concentration. As he finished and returned to his Chun Bi or ready position, lightning struck, despite the clear night sky, in three places forming a triangle. The arcs then joined and the area between them became filled with strange unearthly energies. The energies formed a tunnel spiraling into the unperceivable distance. -"And they say black belts don't know how to have a good time," *message reduced* shouted cheerfully, and then leapt into the vortex.

-"And I thought that alien food made me see weird things," He said to himself, "Well no sense in dawdling! WOO HOO!!" He exclaimed as he jumped into the vortex.

-A large grin placed itself firmly upon Noven's face "Heh, this is getting better by the second!" He leaped in, giving little thought to anything else as adrenaline began to fill him.

-Halt simply shook his head saying "What have I gotten myself into?" -With that, he calmly walked into the vortex.
