-"Yes, it is quiet." The elemental looked behind them, then raised her arm and pointed. -A small band of men in armour were marching towards them. Their weapons were drawn and red banners flew above them. Amongst them walked a man in very simple robes. His face was drawn in concentration. He was responsible for the unnatural silence. They numbered approximately twenty in number, plus their mage. -Undine laughed. "Empire dogs!" she cried scornfully, her words heavy with Arioch's hatred. She focused briefly on the mage, stopping his blood flow with ease. The man barely had time to clutch at his heart, before he fell to the earth, dead. -With his muffling spells gone, the troop of soldiers now made quite a racket. They stopped, glancing down at the corpse of the dead mage. Then they trampled over him as they charged forward to attack the three men, laughing in frenzy as they did so. -Undine drew back, eyes gleaming. "Now we shall see if you will be as useful to us as Arioch believes"
-Beyond the group of soldiers, one man watches the fall of the mage. Nodding grimly to himself, he slips out from behind the trees and runs after the troops of the hated Empire.

-Butch immediately activated his armor, thankfully it still worked appearing in seconds around him. He tried to activate his weapons systems, but there was a huge spark and they shut down quickly. Butch panicked slightly, but managed to bring out his blade wrists, nervously waiting for what was about to happen.

Luke watched their slow approach at first, shocked at Undine's power then laughed a bit as he drew both pistols, flipping them once in each hand. "I suppose I don't want to miss out on the fun." Luke smirked, holding Alpha near his head before aiming both, into the charging cattle, squeezing the triggers and letting fly a barrage of bullets at the men, going for maximun area over power for the moment.

-The barrage of bullets tore through the troops, killing two and wounding six. The stunned Imperials slowed their charged, then one of them cried out "Cardinal Arbalester!" An angry mutter welled up through their ranks, and they charged again with renewed fury, making Luke their target.
-Undine watched, puzzled. 'Cardinal...what? Hmm...' -Her attention diverted somewhat, she failed to notice that the mage was not as dead as she had hoped. He raised one hand and made a weak looping gesture, before life finally left him. The resulting fireball hit the group quite suddenly. Butch was protected by his armour, and Luke was too far away from the other to be hit by the small, fierce blast. Matt, on the other hand was hit full force. His reflexes failed him, due to the shock of the change in worlds. -Cursing her own stupid mistake, the elemental went to his side, cooling and healing his wounds.
-Taking advantage of the halting charge of the soldiers, the figure that followed them put on a burst of speed to overtake them and stand with the Outworlders. The swift grace of his run was accompanied by the ringing song of a metal blade being drawn.

-Talfen drew his sword, rather, trusted companion of many years, Imovan. It had an air of power to it, a special blade birthed by dragon fire. It was his mightiest weapon, supplemented by the two addition rapiers he carried to accommodated a variety of fighting styles, all of which Talfen was a master. He didn't recognize these strange people, but he knew to be attacked by the empire was a sure sign of being decent people. Still, if people who had simply crossed the empire, he'd be content seeing them bring more harm to them. Despite his status as a mercenary, his jobs with his original unit had been exclusively to the Union as they, while working for money, would not just do the bidding of such an establishment harming the people. His company, his friends, shared that sentiment. He made little introduction to these people, but told them this "This unit is inexperienced, fresh." He hesitated ever so slightly at the following, as they seemed capable themselves, but continued "Stay back, they'll be no trouble for me. I'd not like you hurt on my part." He rushed forward with his astonishing speed, saddened slightly to the thought of ending such young lives while they may still find some reform. He pushed it aside instantly, preparing to sink Imovan into the cluster of soldiers in front of him, as he began his majestic movements with his trusted blade, all coming with his amazing agility.

-The 12 men that remained were now close enough for melee combat. The battle proper then began.

-Butch suddenly gained confidence and charge them. He drew out Shiskebab and activated it, flames sprouting along it's blade. He quickly started to cut through some of the soldiers.

The sounds of gunfire filled the air, Luke noticed something seemed...weaker about his pistols but couldn't put his finger on it, especially not during battle. Luke pulled off a few trick shots, letting bullets bounce off blades or armor only to pierce the one behind them, and even shot one through the joints in the knee then into the helmet for a killing blow, the bullet just barely tearing through the back of the weak armor. One bullet slammed a sword out of the novice soldier's hands, to which it went flying and pierced a fellow soldier in the heart. "This isn't so bad huh?..." Luke called to Undine, who was healing Matt at the time, before thinking to himself about what the soldier's had called him and why they where charging right at him instead now...

-Talfen used his guiding hand to land Imovan into the few remaining enemies, slicing through their pathetic armor. He noticed that the others had joined the battle after all, and were actually quite capable of handling themselves. One had strange armor on, while the other had strange weapons firing projectiles quite quickly, though through his years in battle and seeing so many strange acts of magic, it was no surprise to Talfen. He nimbly weaved through the few remaining enemies, Imovan sinking deep into them. He removed the head of one, flipping between the now dead soldier and his partner on his left. He sliced through his stomach swiftly with a spin, the armor no resistance to the grand blade. The third rushed at him, Talfen nimbly dodging the first sluggish swing he had made, catching the second blow with Imovan, quickly forcing it to the side, the soldier's sword now caught on the side of Imovan. Talfen ran the blade along the length of his blade, sinking the Imovan into him, quickly ending his life. He was a seasoned warrior, and would not give a man quarter in the heat of battle, but he could at least make it as quick as he could for such a young man.

-Undine stood up, leaving Matt to jump to his feet, his face showing no sign of the fireball that had smote him. She backed away and surveyed the battlefield.
-Not one of the ill equipped, inexperienced unit were left standing. The groans of the dying young men came through of bubbles of blood. One young man grabbed Luke by the ankle, coughing up blood. "You are...Cardinal...arbalester...yes?...I..." He finally gave up without a whimper. -The sound and smell of death was heavy on the field. Though some of the soldiers died outright, many were slowly sucumbing to wounds. Another poorly armoured specimen had both his armour and his stomach rent open, and he looked down at his own insides, horrified.
-Undine glanced at the warrior that had come to aid them. Talfen, the mercenary. She smiled at their luck, for he was a warrior of some reknown who had aided the Union in the days of the first war. -She could not feel sympathy for the dying young men. It was beyond her ability to feel such things for anyone other than Arioch and a few of her allies. Spirits have no compassion for the weak or their enemies. -"We would do well to strip them of anything valuble, and then leave this place."

Watching the man before him choke out his last words in such a strained way caused Luke to force himself to look away, working his leg free before whispering a soft prayer for the man. The air became still, thick with the smell of death and sound of dying men, as the group made their way over to the man that had been assisting them, for what it was worth, in this small skirmish. On his way Luke took pity on the dying men before him, drawing Omega solemnly and whispering his small prayer for each of them... "The End..." killing the suffering survivors with no hope of living much longer in an attempt to put them out of their misery. Not many were left alive, but those that were caught the mercy of this man, as he made his way over to the stranger, milling the strange thing the men had said to him before they died... "Cardinal...arbalester?" he softly whispered to himself before finding he had made his way over to the man already, and decided to keep his thoughts to himself for now.

*Matt looked around having no idea what happened, one second he was talking to Undine then the next he was in the middle of a blood bath.* "Smells like a shit farm out here..." *He sat back down and felt something jab at his side it was the handle of a rather intricate looking dagger. He picked it up and examined it more closely, it was allmost like a small version of a scimitar but it had razorsharp ends to it allmost like a kitchen knife but more fierce and deadly looking. The handle was less intricate it was more like part of the steel itself it was metal and welded onto the blade. "Well this is intresting." *Matt pocketed it and watched his companions from where he was sitting.*

-Butch started looting the soldier's corpses, turning some over to check what they had, others he had to discover which side was the back. He found a couple of sacks filled with strange coins, he decided they might make a good gift for Phillip to play with when he got back and pocketed all of them. "Guys, while you're finishing up, I've gotta take care of something." Butch sat down and pulled out a screwdriver and started unbolting the smaller weapons from his armor.

-Talfen returned Imovan to his home, a finely crafted sheath he had been requested special made, unique from others. -He sat by and watched as these strangers looted the corpses, and while he had nothing against it knowing it common place, he had little interest in such things, and would rather leave the dead be. He appreciated the strange man in red hastening the deaths of those suffering, it saved Talfen the effort. -Talfen rose as they neared the completion of their looting. "You all look like you can handle yourselves here, I'll be heading off, unless you may need some advice or such." he mumbled quickly, more to himself than to them, "I doubt you need my service as a mercenary." Finishing with "Best of luck to you otherwise." Talfen stated it all quite dryly, harboring no real care for them.
