Exodus in America
In your first posts, you will have the oppourtunity to take on the role of a marshal (good), citizen (neutral), or an outlaw (evil), or just be your own person.. The way you will decide will be revealed in the actual RP. If you defect from the marshals or outlaws, there WILL be consequences.
You will start off with a standard revolver, a lasso, and a hunting knife.
Your character format should be:
Name:
Age:
Nationality:
Gender:
Appearance:
Clothing:
Talents:
Backstory*:
*The backstory should give us a general idea of the history of the character, not the whole life story.
You can literally be any human you want to be!
Rewards (such as money and weapons) will be dealt with using a 100 sided die roll. The higher the number, the less valuable of a reward you get. Example: Suppose you're early into it and you get money as a reward. If you rolled a 100, it'd be $2. If you rolled a 1, it'd be $100.
"Demerits", such as getting shot, will also be determined my a 100 die roll. If you get a 1 or a 100, you die for sure, or are injured permanently. Example: You're shot by an evil boss, you roll a 100, depending on where he shot you, you are either dead, or mortally wounded (such as, having to walk with a limp for the rest of the RP).
If you decide to try and go OP on the RP, the NPCs will grow even more OP, cancelling you out.
As a civilian, you will face the hardest road. Economic crisis, rape, street crime, swindling, basically downtown Los Angeles. Treason will run rampant.
Civilians:
The idyllic cattle ranch under the baking hot sun, a flask of whiskey at your hip and lasso on your belt...sounds nice, doesn’t it? In Manifest Destiny, it may not be quite what you’d expect for the frontier, civvie lifestyle. You’ll have the law on your side for the large part, but don’t be fooled into thinking civilians are going to be livin’ it easy street. Minor things like drought, spread of disease, banditry, economic crisis, petty criminals and racist shopkeeps are a fact of life in [insert title here].
Bandits:
Tired of being beaten down for generations by the ever so slightly corrupt lawmen at the good ol’ homestead? Hate authority and all the taxes that come fresh with it? Slap the side of your stolen horse and become a bandit today! You’ll have all the privileges that come with being a morally inept member of society, such as being able to steal and kidnap, fight for your right (to party?), go on drunken rampages against random towns, and not to mention being the villain! Sound fun? Well, don’t get carried away with that just yet. By going on a roaring rampage of revenge against the West for some minor inconvenience, you’ll experience being hunted down by marshalls and bounty hunters alike, mutiny lead by that guy who’s always given you the evil eye, struggle to manage the logistics of your merry band of psychopaths, face the loneliness of isolation from civilization, and the local wildlife - snakes, mosquitoes, coyotes, and red ants to only name a couple.
It ain’t easy being evil. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Marshalls:
What’s important to bear in mind is that this, the morally just path, will not always yield the most rewards. As long as human nature exists, NPCs may try to subvert your path, rip you off, feed you bad info. Just because you wear a fancy hat, doesn’t mean that all will bend their knee to you. Threats will come thick and fast, as even the most minor of problems will be made out to be a massive fucking deal by some conniving old house wife too lazy to push her own drunkard husband into line. Yeah, really. Think twice before accepting a bounty to pursue gang members, as you may need to take on fresh supplies for you to stand the slightest chance of getting there. Starvation, sun-sickness, death of your dearest mount Martha, and ammunition shortages will become issues along the way.
The world of Red Dead Redemption is a cruel one. For the Marshalls, even more so.
The world of Manifest Destiny is that of Red Dead Redemption’s. Three “regions” (New Austin, West Elizabeth, and Nuevo Paraiso) make up the world.
New Austin:
New Austin is the “most Texan” region in all of Manifest Destiny. It’s inhabitants will use mass amounts of slang. Contains extremely conservative principles. What you consider “southern hospitality”, they consider moral code. If you ask for a discount in any given hotel, depending on how drastic the change is, they will give you the aforementioned discount. The terrain is unique, consisting of grassy plains, that eventually spread out into desert, and back again. The areas of New Austin are: Gaptooth Ridge, Rio Bravo, Cholla Springs, and Hennigan’s Stead. Gaptooth Ridge is a rather desert-y area with only two major settlements, Tumbleweed (which is even a ghost town) and Rathskeller Fork, which is crime ridden. Rio Bravo, on the other hand, is mainly scrub with two settlements, and a military fort. These settlements are named Benidict Point and Plainview. The fort is called Fort Mercer. Cholla Springs is primarily grasslands and prairies. It contains one small and one large settlement: Ridgewood Farm, and Armadillo. Hennigan’s Stead is the most diverse region in New Austin: with dry and arid lands that can flatten out into grassy highlands. What really makes Hennigan’s Stead shine, is it’s settlements: MacFarlane’s Ranch, and Thieves’ Landing.
Nuevo Paraiso: The Mexican region of The Western Border States is, by far, the largest. And is mostly a desert terrain. It’s made up of 3 regions: Punta Orgullo, Perdido, and Diez Coronas. Punta Orgullo consists of three major towns: Nosalida, Escalera (the current capitol of Nuevo Parasio), and Tesoro Azul. Punta Orgullo is like the rest of Nuevo Parasio: Desert. Perdido is the largest and most mountainous of the three regions. It’s mountains towards the south end create a unique landscape that houses the second largest population of cougars in The Western Border States. Perdido’s major settlements are perhaps the most interesting. Chuparosa, the second largest town in Nuevo Parasio, is in western Perdido. Las Harmanas, a small settlement, ridden with rattlesnakes and armadillos, is directly east of the pre-mentioned Chuparosa. Agave Viejo, the smallest town in all of Nuevo Paraiso. The final, smallest region in Nuevo Paraiso is Diez Coronas. Like the rest of the Mexican region, there is nothing but desert. It’s main, rather small settlements are Casa Madrugada, El Presidio (which is a fort), El Materdoro, and Torquemada.
West Elizabeth:
West Elizabeth is the smallest region of The Western Border States, made up of two regions: the Great Plains, and Tall Trees. The Great Plains are arguably the most safe, with Blackwater, the most civilized settlement in all of the Western Border States. The Great Plains are simply large plains. Tall Trees is an extremely forested area with three towns: Manzanita Post, Conchinay, and the Pacific Union R.R. Camp.
The Story:
The story will be determined by the players. Each decision will dramatically impact each and every outcome. Therefor, the story will never have a definite end, nor structure.
