June 4th 2022- The Outbreak begins.
-It was a sweltering hot day at the beginning of one of the hottest months of the year. Secronom, huge pharmaceutical company located in the city, was launching a huge research project for a cure for cancer, before being accused of running genetic and medical experiments on live humans within the walls of their research facility. Originally hidden from the public eye, security leaks lead to a city wide outcry for the truth. As the rioters surrounded the building and began to force their way inside, the scientists and personal within attempted to force them back, pleading with the mob. It was futile, however, as the citizens made their way into the facility to locate a cage with 109 subjects contained within, scheduled for execution the next day. In a rage, the mob beat open the doors and freed the subjects as Secronom employees begged them to stop. If only they knew. As the doors opened, the subjects went into a wild frenzy, leaping into the mob of people and devouring anyone and everyone in their way. The virus worked fast, within minutes over half of the crowd were either dead or infected, as the horde chased any who attempted to escape out into the streets.
That was several weeks ago.
June 24th, 2022 Friday 12:01pm(Present day): Huntington, West Virginia
Gunshots echoing throughout the store, Kain could see the creatures' rushing into the store skulls explode into bloody chunks, the wild man next to him laughing as he shot them with an almost uncanny accuracy, leveling his hunting rifle just right and popping another head as it entered the store through the recently made hole, splattering it's skull fragments across the wall.
"Hahahaha! Take that ya rotting scumsacks! Get. Out. Of. My. STORE!" The gun owner, Bob, shouted from beside Kain, as an infected hissed, his skin bubbling up as he rushed inside, only to be blasted as well, leaving a dead silence in his wake, besides Bob's laughing of course.
"Ya see that boy? That is how you slaughter you some rotbags right there. Shows em who's boss!" He let out another laugh, reloading his rifle as he did so, taking the last 4 shots from the ammo box and reloading it in his rifle. John, who was in the back searching for a few supplies, found among the rubble a crowbar, solid iron sitting on a crate. Besides that all he succeeded in finding were a ton of empty crates. From the front, John could hear the radio Bob had playing on the counter, Midnight Riders blasted the radio, Bob himself was banging his head up and down grinning turning to Kain.
"Don't forget boy, you can't spell slaughter without laughter!" He said, hooting out laughter now turning to the hole in the wall and pointed. "Might wanna fix that up, unless you like watching me shoot, which I can't blame ya for."
Not far away, a man in a cameo jacket was making his way down 8th avenue. Kyle turned his head up, the street silent mostly, wind whistling quietly except for the sound of Midnight Riders floating in the air from a nearby store. On closer look, Kyle noticed the name, Bob's Guns. A rather simple name, but he could see from the outside it was rather barricaded and the sounds of speaking were apparent, hidden by the music as he got closer. The smell of death became more apparent as he approached, looking to see several dead infected lying in the street in a pile.
Chesapeake Elementary School right across the river from Huntington, was one of the few places that had time enough to barricade their walls, if only by a few hours. What they did not know is, the infection had other ways of getting in. Namely, one little girl. The teachers and staff of the school tried desperately to block all entry points into the school, using all the resources they could think of, yet even then the infected made their way in, like a flood. With most of the staff dead or transformed, the students were left to fend for themselves, few were ready for that. Except one girl, Julie, who unlike the others in many ways, continued to call the school her 'home' until recently. She could hear them from one of the rooms she was in, loud banging, much more then normal, along with the shatter of splintering wood as twisted hisses and roars rang out through the halls. It wouldn't be long.
As Davey made his way up the stairs, he found the front door smashed in, as well as scratch marks down the wall. Making his way into the living room, he heard the television going, he supposed there was just enough power left then, as the sound of a movie, he assumed played through the house.
"The recommended way of destroying them is removing the head, or destroying the brain. I'll repeat that, removing the head...or destroying the brain." Despite the sounds of the television, Davey heard something else from the kitchen, a loud rumbling, as well as the sound of breaking porcelain.
Ichiru and Migaki, making their way home empty handed after a scavenging run to the nearby houses, came to found their own home had been hit. Rushing inside, they found no trace of the looters other then the ruins they left in their wake. Down the stairs, they saw most if not all the weapon collection downstairs had been stolen, as well as any ammo that may have been present. Besides the Glock Ichiru kept with her, the only other things down the stairs was a polishing kit, something used to shining the guns up, a few two by fours in the corner, and a few empty boxes of ammo. However out of the corner of her eye, Ichiru did notice a USP pistol sitting on the counter, not sure why it was missed, perhaps due to its lack of punch she assumed.
With the sound of gurgling zombies below her, Lucy raised the lead pipe she had used to bludgeon the zombies to death, blood smeared over the surface and across the floor, looking around at this place she had been staying the Goodyear Auto Center's garage. Most of her supplies were running low, and she knew she would need to get going soon. Inside the store itself, Lucy could see a several tools all on shelves, ranging from bolt cutters to hammers, etc, as well as a portable generator, a few fuel cans, and the car sitting in the garage with her. She remembered it was a total wreck, needing new tires, brakes, and several other rather important functions, not something ideal for an escape.
