One of the few anime in which I prefer dub to sub. Quite frankly I also prefer the Original to Brotherhood. It was just darker, more subtle and did a better job of creating proper atmosphere. However, Brotherhood had it's perks as well, including a whole new cast of characters and debatably a better plot.
Either way, I highly recommend anyone who has not seen this series to stop what you're doing and watch it now :l

No but srsly though. I watched Brotherhood first, and absolutely loved it. Probably my favorite anime, if not show in general, of all time. Amazing characters, good humor and story, and action scenes that blew my nuts off. And of course GREEEEEEEEEEDO!!!!!! And the straightest man ever, Alex Luis Armstrong!

But yeah, I watched the original first a few years ago and wouldn't watch Brotherhood until a friend showed me episode 23 of Brotherhood and I was like: Who the heck are these guys? Of course reffering to Mei, Ling and Lan Fan. And it all went from there, go figure.
I think Brotherhood moves a lot smoother and quicker than the original, really IS an action series and is a lot less angsty from the original, Brotherhood explains things better and introduces many likeable characters with better motives other than just focusing on Ed,Al and Roy like the original did. I think it helps to have seen the original first for pure emotion but yeah, overall I liked Brotherhood more.
