I just want to hear opinions on this one.
Then:
I remember when I first say Oblivion being played, it was like this new magical world (call me sappy and a nerd) that NEEDED exploring. The gameplay I saw was the Arena and the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. I nearly orgasmed. I borrowed it for a bit and once I got out of the sewers, I didn't know that you fast travelled, so I walked everywhere. It was this new experience
Now: Now, it's just a game.
Opinions?!

Then: It was a game I had now idea how to play, I had to restart a few times just to set up a charater I liked and I just used ti steal and kill everyone. It was hours before I felt at home in just the Imperial City. I completely agree with everything needing to be explored.
Now: SUMMON AND UNLOCK DOORS FOR 4 HOURS TO LEVEL UP SOME SRS LEVELS STRAIGHT AWAY BRO!

Then: A fantastical time in this brand new world, wandering the wild open escape and shooting down any bandits or deer that got in my way, having them for dinner that very night (The deer, not the bandits...maybe) I would steal what I liked, and grow in power until my swordsmanship was up to 99 and still be level 10, not understanding how to level up in the slightest.
Now: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU SHE MADE ME LEVEL UP NOW I WASTED A LEVEL POINT IN MY STATS NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Then: A grand adventure, and tons of time trying to perfect my character. Much time spent wandering, and side questing across the universe, telling the world to screw off as I had my fun.
Now: Oblivion? What's that?? *mumbles* Skyrim.... Skyrim...

Then: I felt like a ranger, exploring the deepest recesses of Cyrodiil, with enough arrows for every bandit in the game-world. Oh, a dungeon? I'd explore it. A settlement I've yet to discover? I'd kill the inhabitants and take their stuff.
Now: Still great, but feels stale and unrefined.

Then: I felt it was huge and wonderful, with no limits or boundaries to what I could do. A game that let you take your time and explore. It was addictive and I felt it was the best game I had experienced in a long time.
Now: I recently "upgraded" to the PC version, now I set bounties on beggars and watch the guards chase them. I don't explore it any more, I just screw around all the time.

Then: It was breathtaking. The very first time I played was one of the most memorable and amazing experiences I have ever had with any game EVER. I would just spend hours and hours getting lost and immersed in the game, and I loved EVERY SINGLE moment of it. I remember how epic the Fighter's Guild was the first time I beat it, same with the Mages, the Thieves had my least favorite quest in the game, but DAT REWARD. And of course everyone's favorite, the Dark Brotherhood. I also remember that I got the Champion of Cyrodiil Achievement before the Great Gate achievement thanks to a glitch.
Now: FUCK THESE MODS rageguy.jpg No but srsly though I love it to this day. The only game I love more is of course Fallout 3.
