I have been told by many people who watch anime that if you are watching the dubbed version then you are not watching real anime. I just want to know everyones thoughts on this

Honestly I wouldn't listen to people who say that the dubbed anime isn't real anime. However, it does detract from the whole experience imo. The translations in dubbed versions are sometimes a bit gimpy. Voice acting is usually stellar though (rolls eyes).
However, there are a few out there in which I actually prefer the dub to the sub, but only a few. Samurai Champloo would be one, just off the top of my head.
Honestly it all goes to personal preference. It's up to you.

For me it depends on the anime, sometimes voice acting for dubs is just horrible to me. In such a case, I go with the subs lol. Dubs will sometimes be a bit more censored in the language, but meh. It really does come down to the person too, but also to what anime and if it has good English voice actors or not, at least for me. So, basically what Guy said  |

DUB all the way... I mean common why read when you can be told, and the quality of it is always epic... Yah know? they choose the best possible voice for the character, and the voice really fits with the body... Same reason I love to play square enix games, the voices are just so amazing and don't squeak and hurt my ears at all... Bl
Since I am trying to stop being a troll (a bad one at that) Ima answer the question seriously too. Subing all the way... Mainly becuase Dubing is almost always the opposite of everything I said ^^^. But I have seen some cases where the dubbing is actually better than the sub. Mainly becuase it seems the producers and voice actors actually worked to make the voice fit the char... Those cases would be Naruto and Avatar (Don't judge me... I was ten when I watched em)... Sure they have their rough edges but they were the best dubbing I have seen in anime. Naruto, giving chars deep voices that weren't crap, instead of every char having high as shit voices that hurt my ears when I listen to them for too long >.<. Avatar actually casted people (Or at least one person) At the age of who they were playing, and it showed in the quality... *insert some way to call MBL stupid below*
