Its a cool fantasy adventure... and i cant think of any story like it that ever became as big of a deal as the Lotr series did...
Summary: A very short person, his friend, who is also very short are sent into a great adventure when he is tasked with the job of a delivery boy... He must bring a ring that is like the root of all evil to a huge ass Volcano for it to be destroyed. Its alot more deep than that and has alot more characters but im not gonna write anymore

The finest sub-creation ever, in my opinion. Truly the height of mythopoeia, and such a world as Arda has not been created since, if it ever will be again. Most writers don't have the patience anymore.
The movies, I adored almost as much as the books. I thought it was a huge risk, but they pulled of the essence of the story in a way that was perfectly suited to the big screen- it didn't feel forced at all. In short, EPIC

Usually movies this long turn me off, but Peter Jackson pulled it off. Also, the breath-taking scenery shot in New Zealand which has quite a diverse ecosystem. I'm not as suicidal as to even attempt to read the novel by J.R. Tolkien, however. I suppose the movies' charm was how it took so many mythical elements and turned it into a believable universe. I couldn't but feel sorry for Borimir. His death was pulled off quite well, and I think he redeemed himself. His father was corrupted beyond repair. And even though I didn't care too much for the Frodo-Sam scenes I still had a soft spot for the bond they formed over time, like when Sam followed Frodo through the river and nearly drowned. "I made a promise Mr. Frodo. A promise. Don't you leave him Samwise. And I don't mean to."

I don't know about the books but the films I found to be quite boring. 9 HOURS OF WALKING!!! Part One: Walking Part Two:Walking with some fighting. Part Three:Walking and then throwing a ring into a volcano.
