Achintya shut his book, taking a moment to examine the title for the 100th time with a small smile. He turned to Talfen and gave him a huge friendly grin. "Actually, my friend, it's the kind of Tiara used by a girl with a mother complex to get her way. I don't know if you've ever seen a grown woman throw a strop, but it's possibly more dangerous than anything any of us could do with... well" he said, hefting the book in his hand, "this."

-Luke found himself laughing at Achintya's suggestion, just as Netreya arrived back from his flight, Luke picked up two of the books he had intended to read, thankfully not the one the Fearie had chosen. He wouldn't want to try and wrestle a book away from him. Or anything for that matter. Picking up the 'Of Fire and Air" title, Luke ran his hand over the page and opened it, figuring that, while he waited, he may as well get in some reading. This was their 'gift' after all, however spiteful it may have been.

-Talfen pulled out the book left to him, and traced his hand over the cover lightly. He mumbled to himself, "I suppose reading from this could give no troubles for myself, and we're to wait anyways. Let's see what this book has to offer, then..."

-Talfen blinked and lifted his eyes from the book as Zephyre let out a sudden breathy exclaimation. "What?" "Your soul is adjusting to mine! I suspect...I suspect you can fly, if you wanted to attempt it. Do you?"[/i] Talfen was started to his feet. "Fly? Of course! Is it like...with wings?" "No, its using the air to move yourself. We'll begin then. First, you have to think of a wonderful thought."[/i] "Any happy little thought?" "One that makes heart and mind soar. Then reach out for the air around you...like so..."[/i] The sylph communicated the methods mentally to him, and he carefully followed her instructions. It wasn't long before he was hovering a foot from the ground, grinning happily. It was a little unsteady, but as his pact partner said, practise made perfect. He wouldn't be performing any aerobatics or marathons, but it was fun in itself.
-Luke watched Talfen, surprised. "Netreya, what on earth is going on there? Or not on earth, perhaps?" He waited for a reply, only to turn and see the griffin staring at him in shock. Feeling like he'd missed something, Luke prodded him, "why are you looking at me like that?" "You spoke Kreeah. Our tongue. Without learning it. It was a dialect used by the fire griffins, too. One known but not used by my kin. How...?" "I did? Huh. I've no idea." He looked at the book. 'I wonder if this has something to do with it...'
-Achintya seemed to not notice any of this. He was too absorbed in trying out something the book had suggested about shaping magic, combining it with the air and then making a shift... "Aha!" He twitched his hat back and smiled brightly. A blade of arcane energy hovered before him. Directing it with his mind, he slashed at a centipede milling around not too far away. Two half centipedes shuddered limply on the grass. Achintya chuckled.
-Solace watched, amused, before taking the tiara out of its box. She eyed it for a moment, sniggered, then put it on her head and assumed a mock dignified expression. -"So," she began, regally, "how did you get your hands on my mother's favourite magical-ceremony crown?" Her blue eyes were dancing with barely-supressed mirth.

Achintya almost couldn't believe his luck. He glanced from Luke and Talfen to the blade hovering before him. Two birds with one stone, Icelus heard ringing on the edge where he became Achintya and Achintya became him, this world is turning out to be quite the catch.... Just one more... I can't use the fork, it's still not enough, something more... I need something more... For another moment Achintya's mind shifted and Icelus thought he saw The Seer's face yet again, but almost instantly it was gone. The aged horse found it interesting that even with their souls meshed together he could see no further into Achintya's mind than any outside party, and yet Icelus knew there was something down there, in the centre of those shades of darkness and mirrors and masks and shards of emotion, some impossibly well-hidden agenda, emotions, likes and dislikes, the things Achintya wants and what his plans ultimately are. Icelus was hardly worried though, as the controller of the pact between them Achintya couldn't afford to do anything hasty. Moreover the small faerie had some quality to him that made Icelus more trusting. He supposed it had something to do with the creature's affinity for dream magic.
Achintya looked up at Solace, his expression mimicking hers. "An Indral supposedly sold it to some low-life scum... Oh, wait, no, high-life scum. I think. Um. Oh, I don't even remember, the point is your Mother might have some dissension in the ranks on her hands. Present company included." Here the small faerie gave his hat a twitch or two and his smile widened further. "For now, just consider it a proposal and confession of my undying love for you," said Achintya, turning back to his near-finished book and muttering "though I'll be expecting a dowry" to himself.

Conversing for a moment with Netreya, Luke raised a hand to his jaw for a moment and turned to Netreya again. "So...What does this mean? If I am able to speak Kreeah that is..." He whispered glancing to the book with a interested look and smiled a bit. "Whatever she gave us, it was powerful to say the least..." With that, be glanced to his two teammates who were equally enjoying their new powers no doubt, and nodded to Solace. "I'd...say that sums it up, more or less. You could say some bandits had something shiny so, naturally assuming it was important, we took it...turns out we were right, no?"

-Talfen lowered himself back to the ground, after his floating about. His heart had been racing from the excitement innate in such a thing, calming himself now, though. He tossed his own short comment for Solace, to add on to the others', "Quite so. I seem to have offered myself and been made leader of our merry band." His grin widened, as he continued, " Heh, indeed so, regardless, we found ourselves to be errand boys arriving at the last town. To fetch a cousin, intercepted to find the tiara in question, followed by a jolly good excursion into a warehouse filled with people of the burly sort, where upon we learned the initial one requesting us there for the cousin also had the tiara as an object of desire. I proposed we prepare it for you, and that may well have been the actual good choice. The cousin found himself with a, ah, very affectionate welcome back. Until he lost his head. Though I'm not sure if I mean that metaphorically, before his return, or quite literally, after. Ah, well, no helping the poor bastard now, is there?" Talfen sighed, before continuing his recap, after closing his eyes for a moment. "Regardless, the other woman also rushed off in a very angry fury at the loss of the tiara's return to her, as well. Then, you yourself arrived, and then, we find ourselves here. Long winded as that may be, I think it's as good a summary as I may give without cutting anything of possible note." Talfen shrugged, and went back to conversing with Zephyre over his new-found power, and experimenting in a small form with it, pushing himself off the ground once more.

-Solace hummed in the back of her throat. "I had heard of a roaring black market in Oxbridge, but I didn't know it touched the Indral as well. This could be all kinds of entertaining. If I might make a suggestion? Allow me to hand this back to my mother - I'll get you a reward, I assure you. And I appreciate the sentiment, dear Achintya." She grinned lazily, leaning against Kyllaros' flank. "Confessions of undying love always make one feel tingly. Ah, but my life has been dull and depressing without you. The action seems to hover around you like oh so many hornets." -She sighed and closed her eyes. "I'd sleep, if I were you. Long day tomorrow. Lots to do." A dome of shimmering light surrounded their camp for one brief moment, and the night settled into content stillness.
-The silence lasted a long time, as the company rested in their various ways. Eventually, a short time before sunrise, sharp ears heard the sound of armour clinking. Kyllaros snorted and pawed at the ground. His bright eyes saw humans in mismatched red armour sneak into the camp as if the protections weren't there. He gave a loud neigh as one troll-sized man lifted his huge blade to the neck of the exhausted griffin.

- Eyes snapping open as if they themselves sensed danger, Luke and Netreya acted as one unit, Luke himself rolling forward, off of his Griffin brother, as Netreya pawed at the earth and launched himself forward like a bolt of lightning, just in time for the blade to crash into the earth where the duo once were, leaving a rather uncomfortable mental image for the two, who quickly retaliated. Luke raised his gun and unloaded several shots in the direction of the giant man, whomever he was, as Netreya did the same, but with more strength, an orb of light glowing near his beak, as he launched a stream of light towards the man to join Luke's attack in a dangerous combo, the sounds no doubt enough to awaken others, if not Kyllaros' warnings were.

-Talfen rolled lazily to an awkward sort of attention, blinking the sleep from his eyes, and quickly unsheathing his rapiers. He took sluggish glances all about him trying to assess the situation, and find where the danger crawled through the night.

Achintya stood from the sitting position he'd fallen asleep in and clambered atop Icelus with some help from the small horse, muttering groggily to his pact-partner as he did. "The box pony, has she still got the Tiara? I don't like wasting time."

-Solace surged to her feet. "Wha-?" -The bullets ricocheted off the warrior's chest-plate, unbalancing him. Netreya's light merely dissipated on the red armour. Solace blinked, puzzled, before throwing her own magical attack at the same warrior. It, too, had no effect. "Goblin skin armour. I swear-" One of the other warriors charged at her, and she danced away to the side as Kyllaros reared up and kicked the man in the head.
-Two of the warriors, one rather taller than the other. both wielding spears ran at the conspicuous mounted faerie, whilst another lifted a horn to his lips and blew it. It gave a weak, high pitched call, which was answered by a cacophony of neighs. A horseman, charging ahead of his fellows, galloped at Talfen, swinging a large flail.
Luke's combatant righted himself, and then bullrushed the Arbalester with his large sword raised, displaying all the grace of a rhinoceros.

-Luke watched his energy attack fail to pierce the man's armor and cursed under his breath, his bullets wouldn't do either. Upon spotting his charge, he prepped himself, unable to defeat the man with pure strength, but would surely be able to escape his mad charge. With a single leap, Luke jumped over the man's charge and drew his sword, unable to defeat him as he normally would, he nodded Netreya over and mounted his friend, leaping into the air and taking off in a dive bomb, slashing the sword against the man's back with the speed of a charging griffin, prepared to fly away to escape retaliation.

-Talfen made his move to slip out of the charge of the man on horseback, moving right to be on the opposite side of the swinging mace. He sheathed his rapiers while drawing Imovan hastily, preparing for the next pass he would face. He'd sheathed both rapiers after scurrying to the side, not wanting to simply drop them to the field.

I failed, didn't I? Everything is gone, and only Silence is left. I am sorry. So very sorry.
