Here's how it works: The Dazzle has two ends, one end is a USB that you plug into your computer. The other end has the female ends(the vaginas) for your AV cords. The problem comes from needing to plug your AV cords into both your TV and your Dazzle, because the AV cords from your system only has one of each when you need two. To cure this problem, we need to make the AV cords from your system have two male ends(penises). What you will need: Three Male-to-Female Converters Three AV Splitters that have one end having one male end and the other end having the three AV cords. Referring to the diagram above, you make the male ends from your system female ends. Then attach the single end of the splitters to each of the female ends to the system cords. Now you have two sources of AV input. Plug each of the plugs into the respective colors of both the Television set and the Dazzle. REMEMBER: When you split one AV cord, both of the new ends of the cord are of the color of the singular end. That means that the two new ends are both the same color and need to be plugged in as such. If you're clever, you'll realize that this means that your Dazzle and Television set have to be very VERY close to each other in order for this to function properly. See post 2 for details on an alternative set up if you can't have your dazzle right next to your television screen. Attachments:

If your Dazzle and Television set can't be very close to each other, this is an alternative way of setting up your dazzle so you can record without having the two near each other. What you will need: Male to Female converters(x3) Extension cords for AV plugs(Male-to-Male ends)(x2) Splitters for AV plugs(1male-2female ends)(x3) First, plug in your splitters into your TV. The order does not matter. Second, put the male to female converters on your console AV plugs. Third, plug the extension cords that have three plugs on both ends into both your newly female system plugs and your Dazzle. Plug the ends of both extension plugs into their respective colors into your television set. Congratulations, you can record from your TV with your Dazzle. Be very careful about the plugs, however. Dazzle's are fickle and loosely fitting, so it is best to always check to make sure you're actually recording before doing any substantial work. Attachments:

I'm pretty sure the patch is labeled for "Vista" but it works just fine on Windows 7. You can get it on the main site for Dazzles I think. If not, just google search "Dazzle Drivers for Windows Vista/7"

Thanks Vyse. To be extra safe, when I go and get the stuff I plan on taking a friend who already has the whole thing running at his house. And recommendations on particular kinds of Dazzle?

Well, Platinum comes with pinnacle studio, which is pretty good with dazzle (from what I have heard on the interwebs) but I use the regular one, got it from Amazon UK for £20 and it works beautifully. You may have to install some drivers off the pinnacle website for your dazzle if you get regular, but it isn't too hard to do that. (I think Platinum fixed that issue.)
Pinnacle instant DVD recorder is a fantastic way to record the games to the hard drive (comes bundled with the dazzle unit) . It also allows you to record in 60hz if you perform a little filter trick with AM cap. Here's how:
1: In instant DVD recorder, set it record to hard drive by browsing for a file. 2: Set Dazzle up as a NTSC machine, this lets you record black and white in 60hz. 3: Open AMcap and set that to SecamB setting (should find video filter setting somewhere..can't remember off the top of my head) 4: The preview on instant DVD recorder should now be in colour...enjoy!
....That's the general gist anyway...

Pinnacle is a terrible editing program. I can't tell you how many times it's crashed my entire system. Bottom line is that it's good if you don't have any other options.

If you have something better than Vegas, it's probably something that's only marketed towards corporations and in the higher price range. As a side note, don't get the "pro" versions- they're actually "expansion packs" onto the software you already have. It was bullshit and it lost me a lot of money for that mistake.

Yeah....way too expensive for me right now. I think Hauppauge would be good after you've used dazzle to test the water...you know? I mean if Dazzle screws up your out around 40 quid but if Hauppauge screws up you will cry.
