What’s this? No “how have you been, Brother?” It’s been six and a half years and I haven’t heard a word out of you, and now you send a letter from nowhere asking me about obscure legends?! Honestly... Sonja missed you at the funeral, you should have been there Brother, if nothing else. Perhaps take a trip here sometime? Soon? If not for me then at least for Sonja. Just think about considering it, please, I AM doing a favour for you here after all.
Anyway, to business. If nothing else I’m at least glad you’ve kept your passion for ancient history and mythical lore, I swear, you should have gone into teaching like me, the library at the University is absolutely astounding! Now, you asked about references to the phrase ‘Final Paradise,’ yes? I’m sure you don’t need me to see the connotations of heaven or the afterlife, so I assume you’re talking about something other than this, else I’d be here all day going through every religion... ever! Ha... You’re looking for something other than the afterlife, yes?
Well, cutting all of those out leaves only a few options, so long as I don’t stray out of these ancient myths you’re after and into science fiction. The first and most obvious would be the Martyrians, from around 1500Pre-L. Remember those remains of a tower we went and saw with Father about 20 or so years ago? Yep, Martyrian handiwork. You can always do some digging of your own from here, but the gist of it is that the tower was built to spew a very heavy gas across the entire planet to wipe out overyone, Martyrian’s included. They assumed that life was the biggest taint on the planet, get rid of it and ta-da! A very Final Paradise.
Aside from that you’ve got the Im Paridisum Seus, 1800Pre-L. A bunch of cultists who thought Final Paradise lay in the centre of the planet, so they dug down. Eventually, they got hungry and realised they’d forgotten to add ladders, and they all starved. I know, I know...
Finally, I found a nice little bit of text in the back of the library (took me a while, believe me!). Just a page stuck in another book on the lesser known myths of +2000Pre-L. It looked like it was from another book, old as hell, and I couldn’t find the book it was torn from. I’ve attached a copy I wrote up to this message. A bit of a random find, I know, but it’s sort of what you asked for, and anyway, I think it’s pretty interesting, planning on showing the students Monday. In addition to it, I found the occasional note on ‘The Demon Eater,’ which is a pretty popular folk tale from way into +2000Pre-L. Apparently, from one of the books I picked up it’s one of the oldest recorded ‘scary stories.’ Well, I say recorded, I can’t actually find the story anywhere. Pretty weird stuff though, eh? Not even sure why it’s a scary story, this Demon Eater seems to have destroyed some mythical demon. Ah well, I don’t pretend I can fathom what these superstitious people thought, right? Ha...
And I’m afraid that’s all I can do for you. Whatever it is you’re looking for it’s most likely Martyrian. Their legends of making the Earth ‘Final Paradise’ is all over the place history wise, every society at the time had their own version of the tale. Hope this helps Brother.
